MISSION STATEMENT
Opera Mississauga's mission and singular focus is to present to diverse audiences well-loved operas with traditional sets, costumes, and staging with national and international artists. Opera Mississauga is the only opera company in Canada with this particular traditional focus. We are fortunate to enjoy the finest operatic acoustics in Canada within the Living Arts Centre. Our public wants traditions in opera relived with the highest quality. 

TRADITIONAL 
All productions are presented with traditional sets, props, costumes, and staging. 
Operas are selected from the most well loved and mostly 19th century Romantic operas.

PROFESSIONAL 
Opera Mississauga's performances aim for the highest quality within traditional styles and works.
All solo singers, stage directors, and designers are respected professionals in their fields. 
OM is a professional member of Opera America and the Professional Opera Companies of Canada. It is one of 14 professional opera companies in Canada.

INTERNATIONAL 
Opera Mississauga brings designer sets and costumes of productions from around the world.
Artists with national and international reputations perform with OM's own professional opera orchestra.
Maestro Dwight Bennett, General & Artistic Director is an internationally known Canadian conductor who conducts and records in North America and Europe. He most recently conducted in Florence and Rome and recorded in Amsterdam.
  • Growth: Over the past three seasons, OM's subscriber base has grown by 394%. In September, 2002, the tickets sales for 2002-2003 when compared to last season at the same time have increased 4.5 times.
     
  • The 2002-2003 Season sets a record for OM with 26 performances of 4 main stage operas and three concerts plus 9 Special Events. Look for: Zajc's Nikola Šubic Zrinjski (October), Puccini's La Bohème (November), Christmas's Night of a Thousand Stars (December), Austria's Tales from the Vienna Woods, Rossini's The Barber of Seville, Your Favourite's On the Wings of Song, and Verdi's Il Trovatore. 
     
  • OM is a Resident Tenant: of the Living Arts Centre where it performs within Canada's finest operatic acoustics. 
     
  • Origin: The Company was founded in 1985.
     
  • Registered Charity: OM is a non-profit Ontario Corporation and a registered charity that issues tax receipts for donations. 
     
  • Renowned Opera Theatre: Hammerson Hall enjoys the finest acoustics for opera in North America. Its European horseshoe configuration is ideal for seeing and listening. It seats 1233 people for opera and 1333 for concerts. The theatre has perfect sound and perfect view. Its stage is one of the largest in Canada. The orchestra pit can hold a Wagnerian orchestra of over 100 people. There is also a second smaller theatre with a pit suitable for smaller operas, concerts and student events.
     
  • Audience: OM is located in the centre of 5 million people, the larger GTA and beyond. People from 27,000 households have attended OM in the last 2 years. 32% of OM audience comes from Toronto. Patrons come from Michigan and Buffalo to London to Barrie to Bellville. There is large penetration is in Mississauga, Etobicoke, Oakville, Brampton. OM's fast growing areas include Toronto, Oakville, Burlington, Woodbridge, Vaughan and Markham.
     
  • Demographics: OM's audience are from all walks of life, and household incomes within the traditional operatic demographic. The majority of our patrons are between ages of 25-49, and the ratio between men and women is about equal. Tickets are affordable, ranging from $8 to $114 within 7 different price ranges. Pre-Opera Chats preface each opera performance. The Opening Night Club meets socially at each the opera's first nights.
     
  • Student Performances: Each opera is presented to student audiences.
     
  • Sponsor & Donor Benefits: OM hosts the VIP lounge in the Living Arts Centre (LAC) for sponsors and donors. Several Hospitality attractions include receptions in LAC's Live Cuisine restaurant before and after the opera. The Restaurant offers an upscale menu and the Restaurant Catering Service offers a large variety of reception menus and wines. Sponsors are offered an array of benefits and opportunities. Corporate tickets sales programs for client and employee recognition are increasingly popular.
     
  • Free Ticket Fund: Individuals and businesses donate over $8,000 annually for the unique OM Free Ticket Fund for people who cannot afford to go to the opera and families in need. 
     
  • Summer Opera Camp: OM will begin a Summer Opera Camp for young people and seniors called Campera as soon as a Campera Sponsor ($35,000) joins the Project. OM is developing Student Clubs in Elementary and Secondary Schools, another opportunity for Sponsors and Donors.
